Artist Statement by Dustin Ferguson
As the day slips behind the hill, the sun casts only shadows in the foreground—soft silhouettes of what was. The light fades here, but not everywhere. Somewhere beyond the horizon, warmth still lingers, touching landscapes I cannot see.
Echoes of the Sun is a meditation on time’s passage. Shot at day’s end, the image holds the solemn grace of closure. It speaks to the quiet truth that every ending carries the seed of return. The sun may retreat, but it does not vanish. Its echo remains—in memory, in promise, in the rhythm of tomorrow.
This photograph honors the fleeting beauty of the present and the hope embedded in cycles. It’s a reminder that even as light leaves one place, it rises in another. That loss is not absence, but transition. And that the warmth we miss today will find us again—if not now, then soon.
