Artist Statement by Dustin Ferguson
After a long-awaited thaw, spring returns—and with it, the bear. Captured just south of Grande Prairie, Alberta, this close-up reveals more than fur and dandelions. It reveals relief.
Standing in a field of golden bloom, the bear grazes gently, gathering strength for the cycle ahead. The urgency of survival softens into a moment of peace. You can almost feel the warmth on its back, the quiet gratitude in its posture.
“Spring Bear” is a tribute to renewal. To the rhythm of nature. To the instinct that drives us forward, and the stillness that reminds us we’ve made it through. It’s a portrait of resilience wrapped in sunlight.
