Artist Statement by Dustin Ferguson
A spider hangs in silhouette, framed by the fading glow of sunset and bordered in black. It is both seen and unseen—poised between light and shadow, presence and threat.
Suspended Between Worlds explores the fragile boundary between what we know and what we fear. The spider, quiet and patient, becomes a symbol of the lurking unknown—what waits just beyond our awareness as life carries on. The image evokes a Halloween unease, but its deeper resonance lies in the contrast: the beauty of twilight against the primal instinct to flinch from what moves in the dark.
This photograph is a meditation on duality. On the tension between reality and imagination, safety and danger, comfort and dread. It asks us to consider what we ignore, what we suppress, and what watches back from the edges of our perception.
In the stillness of dusk, fear becomes form. And the ordinary becomes myth.
